The move to a senior living community can be like any other major change in life. The first few days can be challenging and on the other side of these challenges is a happy, and fulfilling life. Many people understand the benefits of senior living. However, like a kid going to school for the first time or like a person starting a new job, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed when moving into an assisted living community. So, what might the first day at a senior living community look like? Read along to know.
Move-In Day
The move-in day will be filled with many activities. A counselor will meet up with you and your family and will show you your new apartment. As you unpack, the staff will stop in a few times to see how you are doing. Few of the residents may also pop in their heads to help you feel welcome. Therefore, the move-in day can be social, busy and active.
The Next Morning
To have an early start on the day, you may head down to the dining area and even before you order your food, you might find many residents introducing themselves, asking about your likes and dislikes, welcoming you to eat with them. You can have a tasty breakfast and then settle in with a small group of residents. After that, you may attend the community yoga class before touring the community.
Afternoon
Excited after touring the senior living community, you retire to your room for an afternoon nap. You awake to a knock and open the door to see your neighbor. Your neighbor came to discuss starting a gardening club in the community. You thought that you would miss your garden and feels much excited about the gardening club in the senior living community.
Evening
The smell of good food float into your room from the dining room and you move to the hall to fill a plate for yourself. You sit alone in a corner and some other resident may join you. The two of you plan on spending your time and plotting your next move when another resident joins you.
As the days wear on, you will feel more and more comfortable in the senior living community as there are numerous ways in which you can enjoy your retirement life.
